Theoretical Framework
Art puts an element of color to a colorless world. Bring a ray of hope to meaningless lives. The art in all its forms makes us open our eyes, if only for a fleeting moment, to our monotonous daily existence, we feel that there is something more in life, we can be better than we are, that relations between people can be humane, that the world may be a better place. Art is the collective dream of humanity, the expression of a strong sense that our lives should not be and we should strive for something different.

From the beginning art had a social character. The wonderful cave paintings of France and Spain, were painted in the most profound and inaccessible caves. It was not mere decoration, were part of a ritual for very practical purposes, gain control of the bison, deer and wild horses killed for food. Dance and the songs had the same purpose.

The development of the division of labor, means that the productive base of society in a big step forward, but at the same time, the achievements of mankind are his undoing. The separation of the different aspects of production, culminating in the division of mental and manual labor, the precondition for the separation of mankind into classes, with all that implies for humanity. Over the past ten millennia, the price to pay for the staggering social and economic progress, has been forced alienation of the majority of mankind the fruits of their work, and at the same time, the forcible exclusion of the majority of men and women in the world of culture.

Engels explained that in any society where art, science and government is the monopoly of a few, that minority will use and abuse his position to their own interests. That is the real basis of every class society, and will always be so, while most of mankind will have to work long hours to obtain the basic necessities of life. Aristotle pointed out long ago, that man begins to philosophize when their needs for living are met. The creation of a leisure class through slavery, created the material basis for the development of art, science and technology. But these gains hid the dark side of human history: the exclusion of millions of men and women of the benefits of culture. The task of socialism is to end this terrible crime against humanity and open the door to a new and glorious page in human development.

Historical materialism is not possible understand the development of art from a biological standpoint, psychological or genetic. One of the fundamental differences between humans and other species is precisely the importance of culture, which is not inherent, but learned, especially through language. The language is what makes us who we are. But as Engels explains in his masterpiece, The role of work in the transformation from ape to man was the hand that created the brain, not vice versa. Humanity was developed through the work and production tools, and this is a social activity, not individual. The development of culture, in turn, clearly depends on the development of what Marxists call productive forces. It is not a biological but social.

not require a great deal of intelligence to understand the ideas, opinions and views of people (conscience) change with every change in the material conditions of life. It says that humans are distinguished from animals by religion. So, you can also say that humans differ from other animals by having the art, literature, science or philosophy. However, it is clear that men and women begin to develop these differences only when they begin to make tools and begin to free themselves from dependence on the forces of nature. This is the basis of materialism Historically, the Marxist method of interpreting history. Marxism explains that the viability of any socio-economic system ultimately depends on the development of productive forces. But Marx and Engels never said that human development can be reduced just to economics. The relationship between the economic "base" and "superstructure" ideology is not simple and straightforward, it is dialectical and contradictory.

In a letter to Paul Ernst posted on June 5, 1899, Engels insists against dogmatic interpretation of historical materialism: "As you treat the problem from a materialist, I must first say that the method material becomes its opposite, if not taken as a guide to principles of historical research but a predesigned model conform as the facts of history the interests of everyone. "

the same way that laws governing social development, derived from a rigorous study of the facts, so does art. Any attempt to shed light on the development of art, literature and music, must come from the result of an objective study of matter. This study is beyond the scope of this article, as it would require several volumes. Suffice it to say that the Marxist analysis of the relationship between culture and economic development has nothing in common with the vulgar economic determinism, as is apparent in the following extract from the correspondence of Marx and Engels:

"As for the areas of ideology that rise above the air, religion, philosophy, etc.. all have a prehistoric existence, one can find traces of their existence in any historical period, and today we would call them silly. These misconceptions of nature, human beings, spirits, magic forces, etc.. have for most of its existence a negative economic base, but this lack of economic development of the prehistoric period, partly was conditioned and even caused by wrong conceptions of nature. Even though economic necessity was the main driving force of progressive knowledge of nature and becomes something else, surely it would be pedantic to try to find economic causes for all this nonsense primitive. The history of science is the history of the attempt to overcome this nonsense or is replaced by something new and less absurd. People who deal with this task belong to turn specific areas of the division of work and are working in a plot. And form an independent group within the social division of labor, make their predictions, even his mistakes, and influence the development of society, including economic development. Although at the same time, under the dominating influence of economic development. "(Marx and Engels. Selected Correspondence. Pp 482-3).

Later we read:" But the philosophy of every epoch, since it is a defined area on the division of labor presupposes a certain intellectual material inherited from their predecessors, and that is your starting point. So the economically backward countries may also be subordinated philosophy. "(Ibid. P. 483).

The same observations can be applied to art and literature. Its roots date back to ancient times. Art schools are constantly changing and these great changes largely reflect the changing society, and its deeper roots can be found in the changing mode of production and their corresponding class relations, with all the myriad legal demonstrations, political, religious, philosophical and cultural.
