Introduction
biodiversity, also known as biological diversity is the term for which is referred to the wide variety of life on Earth and the natural patterns that shape out of thousands of millions of years of evolution as processes natural and also the increasing influence of human activities. Biodiversity also includes the variety of ecosystems and genetic differences within each species which allows the combination of multiple forms of life, and whose mutual interactions with the rest of the environment, underlying the sustenance of life on the planet.
The Earth Summit held in Rio by the United Nations de Janeiro in 1992 recognized the global need to reconcile the future preservation of biodiversity to human progress in terms of sustainability or sustainability
usually be distinguished three levels of biodiversity
- Genetics or diversity within species, consistent with the diversity of versions genes (alleles) and their distribution, which in turn is the basis of variation between individuals (the variety of genotypes).
- Specific, defined as systematic diversity, consisting of the plurality of genomes and genetic systems that distinguish species.
- Ecosystem, the diversity of biological communities (biocenosis) whose sum Biosphere is integrated. Task

Spain is the European country with more variety of mammals and reptiles and the third in amphibians and fish.
English territory has 10,000 different plant species, it is estimated that there are about 20,000 species of fungi, lichens and mosses and between 8,000 and 9,000 species of vascular plants (ferns and flowering plants), representing 80% of existing European Union and nearly 60% of which are found throughout the continent. Of the latter group are more than 6,500 native plants, with about 1,500 endemic species unique in the world, and 500 are endemic species shared with North Africa.
In As for wildlife, the Iberian Peninsula is characterized also by having the richest biotic Western Europe with a total of between 50.00 and 60,000 animal species, over 50% of existing species in the European Union. Of these, 770 species are vertebrates, excluding marine fishes. Live in the Canary Islands, due to their isolation, 44% of endemic species. In addition, Spain has a wide variety of habitats, taking 121 different types, which accounts for 54% of all habitats in the whole Union.
The task is to find the meaning of the term "endemic" and the name of at least 10 endemic species of vascular plants and vertebrates in Spain. You must indicate the habitat of each species, the type of food (in the case of species of fauna and not in the case of plants) and conservation categories proposed by IUCN.

Search Process bibliographic information (encyclopedia, treatises on general zoology, guides flora and fauna) of endemic species of flora and fauna Iberica. Check the website
proposals in the next section of resources.
Explain the definition of "endemic" and then produce a table with 4 inputs (columns) for species identification. The columns indicate the name of the species, habitat, diet (feeding) and the state of conservation.

Assessment
For the task must be well defined than the term "endemic" . You must also completion of the above table including at least 10 species of endemic Iberian.

Conclusion This task is intended that the student aware of:
- the great biological diversity present in Spain and that is not present anywhere else in the world.
- the use and benefit of biodiversity has contributed in many ways to the development of human culture.
- The elements that make up biodiversity true functional units, which provide and ensure many of the "" basic to our survival.
- Biodiversity is a guarantee of wellness and balance in the biosphere
